Questions & Answers

BFGoodrich has a long and rich history of making high quality tires at a good value. BFG heavy truck tires have a reputation for good wear life, high traction, low fuel costs all at a fair price. Additionally, the tire casing is designed for multiple retread lives increasing the value of the tire even when used.

When tires wear very slowly due to light usage - think line haul, with very little starting, stopping or tight turns – they tend to wear “funny”.  Usually, some minor imperfection in the vehicle or tire can set off a slow process of concentrated wear that builds over time and takes the tire out of service early. BFG tires incorporate features that prevent the most common forms of irregular wear.  Examples include shoulder decoupling grooves and microsipes found on the Highway Control S2.

Smartway is a voluntary EPA program that verifies low rolling resistance tires.  Rolling resistance accounts for about 1/3 of the fuel used to move a Class 8 tractor trailer down the interstate.  Fuel costs are more than 10 times tire costs for a typical truck so small trade-offs in wear performance are quickly recovered in fuel savings from using low rolling resistance (Smartway) tires.  https://www.epa.gov/verified-diesel-tech/smartway-verified-list-low-rolling-resistance-lrr-new-and-retread-tire

Yes, these are commonly called “Low Pro 22.5” or “Low Profile 22.5”.   These 2 tire sizes are considered equivalent to each other.  Both sizes are used interchangeably and both fit on the 8.25” rim (most common for heavy truck).
